BYRON BAY TO HOST 2019 MYSTERY BOX RALLY
No mechanical experience needed, just willingness for good times and fundraising for cancer research! This is the job description for 300 potential participants in the 2019 Mystery Box Rally!
The 2019 start date for the rally has today been announced as Saturday August 17 in beautiful Byron Bay, NSW with huge laughs, great times and an unforgettable experience guaranteed.
Teams of two will tackle a five-day driving route, where each night?s stop-over will only be unveiled to them each morning. Cars must be older than 25 years, roadworthy with no 4WD or AWD and teams must raise a minimum of $3,500 to participate. The finish line will be in Byron Bay on Wednesday 21st August, 2019.
The rally is part of Box Rallies which includes Shitbox Rally, the leading individual fundraiser for Cancer Council nationally, devised in 2009 by James Freeman after both his parents died of cancer within 12 months of each other. The rallies? fundraising total sits at more than $15 million.
James Freeman said;
?Mystery Box Rally is not a race, but a reward for fundraising efforts. All of our Rallies are so much fun, but Mystery Box keeps delivering year after year with more and more people returning to participate. In 2019, teams will start and finish in the most Eastern Town in Australia, Byron Bay.?
Why Byron Bay? ?It?s relaxed, scenic and very well positioned for our QLD and NSW teams to travel to. Starting and finishing in regional locations means we get out to remote and isolated areas quickly so we can pack in the experience over the 5 days. The teams have done an incredible job by raising over $3.5 million since the rally started in 2013 and we are hoping that from 2019 onwards Mystery Box Rally will be raising $1 million annually.?
